Dayanand Model High School

Children who receive sponsorship attend Dayanand Model High School, an excellent school located in the Kucheri area of Dharamsala. The school provides a broad education from nursery to secondary level (ages 4-18), and accepts children from all backgrounds, upholding its message of equality of opportunity. All standard primary and secondary subjects are taught, with the languages of instruction being Hindi and English.

All of the Tong-Len children have done exceptionally well at school, coming in the top quartile of their respective classes. Many of the children have won top awards and this year (2008) 6 of them successfully sat promotion exams, allowing them to jump a year. In the 2008 5th Grade State Board Examinations in which about 200,000 schools entered around one million candidates, two of the Tong-Len children were placed amongst the top five positions.(see news item).
