A Brief Description of Volunteering Opportunities

Teaching in the Tuition Tents

Tong-Len operates tuition tents in the mornings and afternoons of each week day in the community of Charan Khad. Volunteers are needed to teach the children English, Art, Maths and Environmental/Social Studies.

There is a tuition tent for primary education for children aged 7 and above and nursery tent for children aged 2 to 6.

Tong-Len employs Hindi speaking teachers to assist volunteers in their lesson delivery. 

Volunteers are expected to plan for their lessons according to the weekly time-table.

It is normally expected that the teaching volunteers stay for a minimum of 1 month.

Health Workers

Tong- Len operates a fortnightly health clinic in Charan Khad and a mobile health clinic to other communities around the Kangra Valley. Tong-Len employs a full-time health project officer and a full-time Indian state registered nurse.

Health workers (doctors, nurses and medical students) are needed to assist the Tong-Len staff in the health clinics and/ or educational awareness programmes.
